It would be incredible if that were credible. It probably is… Dr. Scarlett left, or was shown the door, either way… after securing FDA approval and on the heels of European, is definitely a sign.
And then Novartis could have kicked off some small-ish acquisitions with Regulus Therapeutics yesterday. All independent biotechs have been slammed the past bunch of months. And if plebs like ourselves can recognize the disconnect between market value of a company and it’s product(s)/IP, us small minds could also surmise that executives in the industry will also recognize.
Since the rumor makes sense and is most likely true, the only question is, how much. Geron is currently less than $1 Billion company. Don’t forget the ~$1B in tax incentives from the direct development of Imetelstat.
Maybe $3 Billion, a more than 3x offer. I certainly would hope for more , but, wouldnt be mad calling it a day (well a lot more than a day) at around the last summer highs after FDA approval…

Not looking for a buyout, but if it goes that way, I hope it is a stock deal. And of course with a major Pharma.

RC, thanks for posting Omar's link. It would not be unusual to expect an update to an ongoing study at a major meeting such as ASCO, EHA or ASH. Usually ASCO is more basic science oriented compared to ASH and EHA which usually is more clinically oriented. It could be that Dr. M et al plan to present marker data etc so far in the study. It could also be a "placeholder" for more mature data presentation at a later meeting. There was good preclinical data with combination therapy presented at least one major meeting if memory serves. One thing almost for sure is that the study continues. That may seem obvious on the face of it but it has not been stopped for futility or adverse effects which is a good thing and preliminary data presented at ASH last Dec showed some early clinical results which may be more developed as we move through the year.

There may be more here than meets the eye:
a rapid oral abstract is a high-impact presentation format at conferences like aacr or ash, used for:
• late-breaking or time-sensitive research, often from recent trials or major discoveries
• short oral presentations (typically 5–10 minutes) in special sessions
• fast turnaround from abstract submission to presentation to ensure timely dissemination
Late breaking? Major discoveries? Time sensitive? We shall see. Geron over the years does not usually present at ASCO. They have over 300 employees (estimated).

This to me means more to come at EHA and ASH. Worth a review of the preclinical work that was impressive and laid the groundwork for the clinical Rux+Imet study.

BP: I don’t see a date on the slide from Icahn. I’m sure it’s been posted before? My memory isn’t as good as it once wasn’t.
