Hello,
Wondering if this has been discussed before, and if someone could comment on the research outlined in this abstract/paper. Would not this be something Jannsen/Geron must be working on behind the scenes?
Sorry, I don't have a link, but you can find the abstract by searching the following:
Novel Efficient Cell-Penetrating Peptide-Mediated Strategy for Enhancing Telomerase Inhibitor Oligonucleotides by Andres Munoz-Alarcon
I was able to source the entire paper for free by using the same search phrase followed by "PDF."
Section three (3) references Imetelstat. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi Hiprock, thanks for your interesting post. I have seen it come by once, but not on this board. I will look it up and come back to it later.

I took a quick look and I think these are the kind of methods which indeed can improve imetelstat as a platform drug. It is rather technical, so I can not understand it all. Although clinical trials have just started, at Geron and JnJ they probably are already anticipating for imetelstat 2.0. This approach could well be part of that.
(btw: I will add this report to the imetelstat.info site, so thanks for that!)

it is interesting because "telomerase" is specific to an individual; therefore, making every telomerase different. this is because telomerase contains RNA. for this reason, grn163L may or may not inhibit the cancer invading a patient's body.
this is separate from the idea that imetelstat efficacy is based on gene mutations.
very interesting!

Thanks Fisher. My understanding (limited) is the author discusses some of the benefits of an unmodified oligonucleotide vs Imetelstat, using a different mechanism for getting to its target. It would be great to hear from someone that can explain in laymen's terms. Also, would be interesting to have someone with not only a science background, but patent understanding as well. The more I read, the more questions arise
Correction: Section IV references Imetelstat.
