A Comment on Seeking Alpha

Post by hiprock88 » Tue Mar 21, 2017 4:26 am

Hi Fish,

I thought I'd make a comment regarding the SA site. In my view, your posts are spot on and very well thought out; I've learned a lot from your site and writings. But, and I say this in a spirit of friendship, I believe it's counter-productive to engage with characters such as BM and Imetelstat (Cheng Ho, etc) as they are not interested in true dialog. IMO, they are either suffering mental illness or have created these alter-egos as a game to play for purposes of attention or amusement. They (and others) ruined any hope of intelligent discourse on Yahoo, and now are succeeding on SA. For all I know, BM and Cheng Ho are two different personas created by the same person. Either way, the end result is endless pollution and loss of some truly intelligent people contributing. I hope I haven't come off as condescending; I just think if everyone ignores them, they'll eventually move on.

Hi Hip, I appreciate your advice. I try to respond less, but sometimes I just can't bare to see how just a couple of people are deliberately distorting such high quality board. Maybe I should follow your advice and ignore them completely. When data come out (or other kind of news) the real discussions hopefully will return.

Fish, get over it. Please don't respond to or engage meaningless
Posters it is unhelpful in fostering relevant discussion. This is exactly why you are the monitor of this board and have made it a valuable place to exchange ideas. Best Regards bp

Given the nature of the beast, it doesn’t go away if it is ignored, only the intelligent, constructive contributors go away or seldom comment as per the YMB. Isn’t that a success for the chimps? Seems to me either SA and YMB addresses it or it continues. It appears to me that they are not set up to address it or won’t, either way it is a serious problem for the legitimate readers and contributors.

In lieu of SA stepping up with an acceptable level management, for the time between now and expected developments, why not encourage all to move to ImetelChat. Fishermanagents has “continuously” demonstrated adroit effectiveness on keeping key information and posts free of the unending repetition of negative posts. Also, when there are worthwhile posts, just repost the initial one here under the title of the SA etc.

Lastly, I for one have appreciated Fishermanagents “confrontive” posts as some, especially new to this space likely don’t get exactly what is going there. Thanks to all for your great efforts.

Thanks, Hunt. Maybe I was confronting a bit too much, as that also brings the quality down. Btw: on SA quite some posts were deleted lately, also some of mine (which was fully justified...). So they do at least something, which can't be said from the YMB.

Relevant posts on SA or YHM certainly should be re-posted here. That can even be done under a separate topic. Then it will be easier to find them back if needed. I certainly encourage more discussion here, although having a high number of posts is not a goal on its own. So far I didn't need to step up for moderation. I think it happened only twice that I was not satisfied, but that was in the beginning, when some posters and myself still had to learn a bit on how to best take advantage of this board.
