Re: About IMerge Phase 3

Fish, I just had a long post fail to post and disappear. This has happened before. I don't think I can recreate it again, but might try at some point. I guess we don't have an archive function where it might have gone to? Do we have a time out I might have exceeded? Thanks, bp

Thanks for forwarding this post this Fish and thanks to John Doe for getting the info, I think it helps to bring a dose of reality to the overly optimistic. Confucius said, "all comes to he who waits." bp

Re: Role of telomerase inhibition in gastrointestinal cancers: new indications?

Fish, thanks, hope you can track down some answers. I am familiar with most of these articles from my research over the years and was always disappointed that indications in vitro never translated to treatment of horrible diseases like hepatoma and pancreatic cancer. I could only conclude that these...

Re: Role of telomerase inhibition in gastrointestinal cancers: new indications?

Fish, Interesting review article, what to you think about this: <<Preclinical and early clinical trials have revealed promising results in gastrointestinal cancers and might provide novel therapeutic options in the future.>> Early clinical trials in GI tumors?? Where?? A clinical trial means it was ...

Re: DMC post from Hayflick on dreaded YMB

Fish, isn't t that wild? I once speculated in an old message maybe on YMB that MDS trial would eclipse the MF trial re timing since it was phase III. (Perhaps I did that in a wine induce haze...) I would reaffirm that idea since it is a Phase III trial and has a larger potential patient population, ...

Re: DMC post from Hayflick on dreaded YMB

Thanks to Hay and Fish. I believe that in this case having an independent DMC (presumably high level scientists, physicians and statisticians) will add validity to any decision to stop the study for efficacy. For example if a statistically significant drug effect is seen that results in a hard end p...

Another mystery (hat tip to sargasso)

We all know the MF protocol at the 9.7 mg/kg can be effective a la Dr. T's pilot study. We also know it is common for protocols to allow for dose reduction in the face of toxicity. Here's the mystery: why then the 4.7 mg/kg dose? I speculated on this on YMB re FDA pressure, but have some further tho...

Re: Telomerase in hematologic malignancies (Hematology, July 2016)

Fish, thanks for posting these latest articles. Dr. Lane lives!! How reassuring to see a review article by him as we look toward ASH. I was disappointed he did not present at last ASH, my recollection is that his very impressive (ok astounding) AML mouse study was presented in 2014. As we look towar...

Re: value of geron accrued losses

Thanks Fish, it may be that these losses are well over seven year old and should not be fully valued as we think about what Geron's ultimate value will be either as an independent company (unlikely) or as a vassal of J and J. bp

value of geron accrued losses

I would be obliged if someone with business acumen to could teach me exactly what value the accrued losses of about 900 M has to a future acquisition or how it gets used to offset future profits. Is it a tax write off? Does it offset long term capital gains? Is it dollar for dollar or some fraction ...

Re: Picture of Tefferi Poster at ASCO by Ruben Mesa

Actually you can see the real thing on the Geron home page. Click investor relations, past events and you can access the poster. 77 active and 97 planned is good news. I am trying to get a read on what might come at ASH. Clearly they plan for 200 patients but the study can be terminated early at the...

Re: Orphan drug designation

Fish, I can agree and I love your optimism. But if the FDA has had such a close look than where is our BAT designation? I agree that approval is very likely. The delay however is to me astounding in light of the very scrutiny you refer to. If submission requires a completed study, CT site informs us...

Re: Orphan drug designation

Fish, true they were talking. My only point was that an ongoing study with multiple clinical sites, many more enrolled patients and a clear path to approval one year earlier would have strengthened Geron's negotiating hand considerably and perhaps affected the choice of partner (Janssen no doubt the...

Re: Orphan drug designation

Hunt, very sorry to read about your brother in law. I fault the FDA and the unreasonable "hold" that was placed on Imetelstat. Scarlett had a vigilant approach to the liver function abnormalities with a panel of hematologists monitoring the status of patient with abnormal LFTs. Once the hold occurre...

Re: Thinking Senyak? Think again

Fish, kudos for a trenchant examination of Mr. Senyak's article. You have done a good thing in that your comments may help a potential study patient find a new therapy for a previously hopeless condition. There are always risks with most therapies (a quick look at Jakafi will confirm that!) That Mr....
