Re: Geron patents

Interesting post by Hoosier on SA (9 Juy 2016) regarding Geron patents which are outside the scope of the JnJ deal. Hoosier: I believe the following list of patents represent Geron's in-house (i.e. organic) pipeline that are likely to fall outside of the collaboration agreement with Janssen. These a...

Re: About IMerge Phase 3

Hi Bio, thanks for your interesting mail. You hit various important points. MDS Phase 3: we now have the email from Anna that cuts things short. It doesn't exclude any potential earlier ending of the trial, but today no concrete evidence points to that. The ethical part is complicated as there are t...

Re: About IMerge Phase 3

Sorry about that. I am not aware of any irregularities. Maybe an update of the server. I will look for this archieve funtion, but I don't think it will exist on posts in progress that not have been submitted yet. It happend to me also sometimes on other boards. Very annoying. In such cases I make th...

About IMerge Phase 3

Due to the latest changes on the CT site (dd 22 June 2016) there has been some speculation whether or not IMerge actually entered Phase 3. That was reason for John Doe (Geron Message Board at Seeking Alpha) to directly ask Anna (from Geron). Herewith a copy of that Q&A: QUESTION BY JOHN DOE: Hi Anna...

Re: Role of telomerase inhibition in gastrointestinal cancers: new indications?

BP, I got a reply of Dr. Heeg. I will paraphrase his answer. He says that the sentence that you are mentioning is in the introduction of the manuscript and refers to the data from hTERT immunotherapies and PARP inhibitors as shown in table 1 of the article. He confirms that most of these "promising ...

Re: Role of telomerase inhibition in gastrointestinal cancers: new indications?

It always good to start with the references which the author has published in connection to his article. And it happens that Heeg has used a wealth of information, mainly consisting of scientific and pre-clinical research. I just went through his list of 95 references and selected a few which seem t...

Re: Role of telomerase inhibition in gastrointestinal cancers: new indications?

Intriguing, indeed. Guess this needs some further investigation. Maybe I'll track the authors email and ask him. On the other hand, it seems a serious article so the information must have come from somewhere.

Re: DMC post from Hayflick on dreaded YMB

It certainly could be. If there is an unmet need, and if the drug is convincing in its efficacy related to it's risk profile, then earlier termination is a realistic option. In these cases a DMC comes in for assuring that the safety is adequately addressed and that all statistical data are scientifi...

Re: DMC post from Hayflick on dreaded YMB

IMerge is in Phase 3, because that is what is stated on the CT site (top right). Having an DMC installed means that things are getting serious. Here some clarification on DMC's: (Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative) Randomized clinical trials are often overseen by independent data monitoring c...

New method detects telomere length for research into cancer, aging

DALLAS – June 29, 2016 – UT Southwestern Medical Center cell biologists have identified a new method for determining the length of telomeres, the endcaps of chromosomes, which can influence cancer progression and aging. In broad terms, telomeres help determine whether a cell reproduces accurately. A...

Some speculating about the PDCO summary

Repost from Sdrawkcabeman (YHM, 30 June 2016) Note the PDCO language from the APRIL 2016 summary, "...also taking into consideration the additional information provided by the applicant..." So what "additional information" did Janssen present that would convince PDCO to recommend a waiver for ALL pe...

Hi Bio, interesting speculation. Could be maintenance dosis indeed. Could also be that they would like to see what the minimum dosage is to be effective in case patients have very low blood counts, like anemia and thrombocytopenia.

Imbark's schedule

(repost from sdrawkcabeman, YMB 23 June 2016) Primary completion is scheduled for Nov 2017. If primary endpoints are measured at week 24, that means the latest treatment would have to start in May 2017, and that's for the entire 200 pts. So you can see just how fast this trial is moving, and exactly...
