Re: AACR2017 abstract: imetelstat combo with venetoclax

This is an interesting video about venetoclax. The onco-community seems to be excited about this drug:

Re: Focus on Mechanism of Action

biotech_bs, you are correct: it is this extended ET study that concluded the following: 'In the ET imetelstat cohort, driver mutation burden at baseline and best reduction during treatment correlate significantly with baseline telomere length.' and: 'We demonstrate higher TLV after 9-10 months of th...

Re: Focus on Mechanism of Action

I have read various reports from trials that say that imet does inhibit telomerase. I recall a studies that saw actually telomere shortening. If it is the MoA is a different question.

Re: Why the AML trial didn't start in 2016

bio, a totally agree with you. I don't see any reason why the explanation that Anna just gave, wasn't communicated to shareholders in an earlier stage. There must have been a moment in time (when could that have been? Mid 2016?) that it was decided to wait with the trial in order to include more mat...

It is also good to read that we will be informed when plans are definitive, so not only when the trails actually start.

Why the AML trial didn't start in 2016

Many of us wondered why the AML trial didn't start end 2016, as was being announced earlier. It is even part of the collaboration agreement. In the meanwhile we know that there will be no new trials before the review end Q2 this year. However, we didn't know why the AML trial also has to wait. So I ...

Re: Why I think April is a possibility

Dr.S. said that data of the 'full imetelstat program' were to be submitted to a regulatory body. The question is what is included in this program according to JnJ? Also recall that JnJ is sponsoring numerous research studies on imetelstat and that there is quite a large source of information from ol...

Full text of the Genomeweb article: Jan 30, 2017 | staff reporter NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Cancer cells use a variety of mechanisms to survive cellular crisis, including through telomere maintenance processes. By activating telomerase, cancer cells can counteract telomere shortening, and therefore avo...

Re: Promedior CT treating MF

Actually, I don't know what Dr.T. thinks about PRM151. I can't remember him saying something explicit about that. Would be interesting to find out. I do know what his colleague at Mayo, Rubin Mesa, said about it. And off course Srdan Verstovsek is positive about PRM151 too. He is the one who started...

Re: Promedior CT treating MF

Hi, Hunt. PRM151 is 'one of the two most exciting new drugs' according to Ruben Mesa. The other one is imetelstat. PRM151 is 'dissolving' fibrosis. It is a human made biological substance, that travels around your body to clean up scar tissue and fibrotic tissue. Promedior has found out how to make ...

Re: On line article re radiation and esophageal ca

Thanks, bio. I uploaded it to imetelstat.info. Have you seen this report from 2012: Telomerase antagonist imetelstat inhibits esophageal cancer cell growth and increases radiation-induced DNA breaks X. Wu et al. (2012) Telomerase is mainly active in human tumor cells, which provides an opportunity f...

Re: Why I think April is a possibility

Thanks, Sargasso, for looking up this important remark. I remember that he said that JnJ was going to present the data of the full imetelstat program. That could mean all they know about imetelstat from IMbark, IMerge, Mayo trial and whatever they learned from the numerous pre-clinical studies they ...
