Re: Imagine reading this
Actually, blood can be frozen quite efficiently... remember, I spent seven years in labs freezing and reanimating human cells ;) We've been freezing and reanimating cells at >95% efficiency since 1960. It's just a matter of either finding the right antifreeze (we used glycerol or DMSO, both a little...

Re: Sergei Gryzanov now CSO of MAIA
It is critically important to know what happens when you use a single-base telomerase inhibitor along with an oligo in vivo... in cell culture it's very effective, but AFAIK no one is bothering to try it in human trials. So much secrecy, so many "trials" just to do patent extension on old drugs, so ...

Yes but all he had to do was wait two weeks and raise at a higher stock price, that’s the part I don’t get. Price went down, not up. Scarlett knows more about the trials and competition than we do. If he raised money at $1.30, that's what he could get. Have to give him credit for knowing the market...

Sergei Gryzanov now CSO of MAIA
Surprised to see no discussion of this on any Geron board. Geron has patents that apply to 6-thio-dG, MAIA's telomerase inhibitor. Will MAIA have to pay royalties to Geron if they succeed? Why did Sergei go to MAIA in the first place... was there just no place else for him to go after the Alios disa...

For the same reason that he sold ATM shares at $1.37... he doesn't expect the market to be interested in paying more, and there's always the threat of ARGX, CNST, or one of the dozens of other companies with trials in the MDS field lapping Geron.

You still don't understand what imetelstat is, or where it's actually made. You can buy any oligo you want from China... but you can't sell it in the US oncology market. Chinese companies willing to sell you oligos have absolutely nothing to do with Geron. You weren't kicked off YHOO by the nonexist...

(?) It was you who posted about the Mayo Phase 1 study, not me. I agree that it is a grab-bag of incompatible data and that we aren't even allowed to see the follow-up data... that's been my complaint about the whole affair for years. Trying to use it, or Tefferi, to pump Geron, is totally out of da...

HI Andrew. I keep getting posts bounced with comments about "illegal or pirated software"... what does that mean? I'm no hacker. TIA
Good luck on the upcoming AA meeting. Let's hope the FDA at least doesn't make things worse.

It's true that improperly done transfusions "can" have serious side effects. It's also true that parabiosis is a thing... even for older NFL ballplayers, let alone the typical 70-year-old MDS patient. Losing those transfusions will be a serious blow to many older MDS patients. This is a problem for ...

Thanks for your thoughts, Huntington. Please take the time to read Taleb's book "Fooled By Randomness"... it is an excellent antidote to confirmation bias and conspiracy theory, from a demonstrably successful investor. An investor speaking from a record of success rather than a record of riding Gero...

Re: If you are looking for the new shareholders letter
Good points. The blood shortage is going to get worse for several months (let's not forget that this has been coming for decades... we know very well how to cryonically store blood, but it is rarely done. Hospitals just depend on last-minute begging, which doesn't work when you can't do blood drives...

Re: Reality check
I agree with everyone about the urgency of conserving blood (after all, we GERNiatrics need it for parabiosis ;) However, please stop saying things like: "...the FDA must do this, or they are absolutely failing their responsibility for the good of these patients, the good of the healthcare system an...

SARS-CoV-2 pushes MDS enrollment and AML trial to 2021
https://ir.geron.com/investors/press-releases/press-release-details/2020/Geron-Provides-COVID-19-Related-Business-Update/default.aspx Obviously, most patients will be suspending infusions until the epidemic (and the response to the epidemic, which is even more harmful) are over. Re: Telomerase
I answered gwik on ST... the quick answer is yes, there are many other telomerase-inhibitor drugs already in use. Azacitidine is currently in many combo trials, including the ARGX trial that JNJ funded heavily right after dropping Geron. Also check out Constellation... just do searches on "MDS" and ...

Successful ABBV telomerase-inhibitor combo study in AML
So ABBV got good results in VERY sick AML patients, using azacitidine as their telomerase inhibitor along with Venclexta. Other companies are using the ancient 1990s telomerase inhibitors in trials as well, ARGX, Constellation, and many others. Why are these companies avoiding collaboration with Gero...

Obviously the TERT promoter has to mutate in order to upregulate telomerase in cancer cells. What "Geron R&D" are you talking about? Did they build a lab somewhere? AFAIK they have an office in NJ that does CTPM for the trials, and an office in Menlo Park that pays the largest average salaries in CA...

Re: Perspective on the MF field
Scarlett never addressed why JNJ was looking for a pricing manager for imetelstat for AML in addition to MDS and MF - that came out of nowhere - I would like to go to the shareholders meeting to ask him that question - was it a surprise to him or was he aware they were working on something? I am su...
