A 4 days conference onTelomeres, Telomerase and Disease

Post by Fishermangents » Sun Feb 07, 2016 12:24 am

26 April – 01 May 2016 | Liege, Belgium

About the conference

During the last few years, the telomere and telomerase field has moved from describing parts and local functions of telomeres to integrating them into nuclear biology and organismal well-being in general. For humans, the links with cancer, aging and stem cell therapies have strengthened and a deeper understanding of biological mechanisms may eventually translate into novel health strategies. Moreover, mutations in genes coding for telomeric factors have been associated of with a variety of syndromes for which only poor treatment options exist. This EMBO Conference therefore will focus on bringing together basic scientists invested in scrutinizing molecular mechanisms of telomere functions and physicians engaged in deciphering the connections between telomere maintenance and disease.

The EMBO Conference on Telomeres, Telomerase and Disease will cover topics such as:

Telomere replication and length regulation
Stem cells and cancer
Telomerase biogenesis and function
Consequences of telomere dysfunction
Telomere proteins and protein modifications
Telomere length and disease
Mechanisms of telomere maintenance
Telomeric RNA and chromatin

Elisabeth Blackburn and Titia De Lange are speakers!
