Ibrutinib, Pharmacyclics and the Geron connections....

Post by kmall » Wed Feb 01, 2023 3:58 pm

Interesting read on the development of Ibrutinib by Pharmacyclics. We often hear of comparisons between Pharmacyclics and Geron. There are several current employees at Geron who have worked on the Ibrutinib (Imbruvica) program when spearheaded by Janssen/JNJ (Rizo, Kapur, Sengupta and others) and a Geron BOD member - Dawn Bir - who was employed by Pharmacyclics before it's eventual acquisition by Abbvie. Keep this in mind when reading the article below. -Kmall

Imbruvica has a twitter handle per Jansen / Pharmacyclics - (@IMBRUVICAUSHCP) which provides information for health care providers. The "community" is intended to provide prescribing and safety information and is monitored for feedback, issues and other related topics complete with community guidelines on acceptable tweets using the community handle.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but I found this both novel and impressive and look forward to Geron providing this type of information and a very accessible contact point directly with the health care community.
