The Amharic equivalent of thank you is አመሰግናለሁ ämäsäggənallähu, which literally means “I praise you” or “I commend you”. An alternate form is በጣም አመሰግናለሁን bäṭam ämäsäggənallähun , which is used as an equivalent of “thank you very much”, although a few native speakers have noted in the comments that this form is archaic and unlikely to be used now.
