short interest
someone posted on stocktwits the short interest via Ortex data tracking - showed it went down nearly 50 percent this week - if that is true - expect the price to rise - unfortunately this has shown that insiders are corrupt in the past and someone seems to know something if the shorts cleared out this week
Re: short interest
It is incorrect information.
For the short interest to have halved this week, 25 Million shares short would have been covered in transactions. That # of shares didn’t even trade in that volume for the entire week.

Re: short interest
I know that but we have seen transactions that don’t get posted until later
Re: short interest
I think you are confused. The information you saw and are asking about is inaccurate.

Re: short interest
Just for ref, I think this is what is being talked about.

Re: short interest
It’s not accurate - because not enough shares traded for 25 Million+ to have covered in a transaction.
Re: short interest
Do the shorts know something we do not? While that is possible, not sure it is feasible or realistic? Is it possible that someone in a position of trust is playing both sides of the board? I would believe that before I would believe shorts know more than we do.
In My Opinion, Of Course.

Re: short interest
Thanks, I was really wondering about that. If shorts were able to cover on 25 mil shares and the price only performed as it did then it would be pretty concerning.
Re: short interest
they quietly covered in May and it didn't move the price much - nobody knew it was happening
Re: short interest
Surprised to actually see a discussion of anything related to share price here. lol
Re: short interest
Ortex data seemed to be accurate - people said it wasn't and the short interest was high - their data showed a peak of 63 million shorted and we were down to 35 million on Jan 9/10 area - an awfully low of covering happened without showing - that was a 28 million share swing
Re: short interest
Riccola you were in fact not confused and I stand corrected. It is surprising bc yes those shares were not registered in daily share volume traded. This stock never ceases to amaze - I still firmly believe the drug is safe and effective, and will be approved by regulatory authorities so that’s where I will focus from here on out.....
Re: short interest
it is a matter of time before approval - the more i watch this stock the more corrupt we see that the market is- i think most people enjoyed watching the shorts burning today - the Orphan for AML is interesting because that is what JNJ had posted for a pricing manager for in addition to MDS
Re: short interest
Lots of folks talking about the short position and how the shorts have to buy back approximately 60 + million shares and the implied carnage that goes with it. It is my understanding that all a short(s) has to do is declare to the Depository Trust Clearing Corporation (DTCC) that they do not have the shares to cover. DTCC will fine the short, some dollar amount which is not disclosed to the public and that is ALL that will happen. They do not have to produce the shares. Know who owns the DTCC? Wall Street, of course. Do not take my word for it, it is just my opinion, but do pull up and read about the DTCC and their activity. They have quite a history. In My Opinion, of course.
Re: short interest
Well, it's moot now, FC... the short interest fell by 37 million shares.
So, in theory, that's statistically a great sign. If this weren't Geron, one could imagine that the smart money saw something good happening in the near future.

Re: short interest
Following up on this for the final time, the last paragraph is my presumption about this back and forth mystery / misunderstanding:
While not delivering the instant gratification of the YOLO stocks, I would say the buy & hold of Blackrock (they have been growing their lot) is more significant and obviously more stable for GERN in the long haul.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see GERN run to $350 in the next couple weeks. But Blackrock having and holding a large and growing stake should confirm our confidence in the company and especially the drug candidate Imetelstat, which is clearly safe and effective and will receive regulatory approval in due course.
Also, this seems to solve the mystery of the huge short cover that was way bigger than the daily volumes traded each day. Seems this transaction happened behind the scene, away from our prying eyes. Oh well, carry on and good luck, You Only Live Once.
