Hat tip to Kaz, YMB. “Dismayed and surprised at the lack of QOL improvement with Luspatercept” in contrast to Imetelstat.

Has anyone seen any onc videos post ASH
Has anyone seen any comments besides the X comments kindly referenced by RC? Usually there is a bunch of video interviews, articles post ASH. So far I have not seen much. Please post if you have. Thansk

Re: Adverse effects
True. Bluebird’s box warning was related to the risk of emergence of rare cancers. Fortunately, the grade 3 and 4 events with Imetelstat were not and appear to be reversible.

Adverse effects
There has been some discussion and concern re grade 3 and 4 events which apparently were reversible and did not result in patient deaths. It appears however that the placebo group was also subject to these events although not all were cytopenic events. Will be interesting to hear about how many pati...

RC, thanks for posting this. Undoubted we will hear more. We should keep in mind that TI is a pretty high bar and just reducing the transfusion requirement albeit not to zero is an accomplishment. The rise of hemoglobin of 5 gms in many is important to keep in mind.

Re: Dr. Patnaik, editorial comment in Lancet
KT, thanks for your comments. I am actually ok with Dr. P’s editorial. He is after all an expert and was chosen perhaps because of the ties of the early Imet clinical heme studies to Mayo and Dr. T but undoubtedly also because of his experience, expertise and familiarity with Imetelstat (Mayo probab...

Re: Dr. Patnaik, editorial comment in Lancet
KT, I am defending no one but just making an observation. Dr. P has 52 pages of article cited on Pub Med going back over 20 years. It’s hard to find a prominent physician especially in academics that doesn’t have some tie to industry. After all that’s (with the exception of pure funding from foundat...

Re: 50% enrollment
Jay, watching paint dry. I think we have to remember how COVID dreadfully set back enrollment in many studies. Also there is competition for patients, that’s just a sad fact of enrollment challenges.

Re: Dr. Patnaik, editorial comment in Lancet
Jay you are not wrong. There are plenty of fruitcakes that hide in academic institutions. And also masquerade as knowing physicians in academics and in the community. The best way to find and avoid them is to ask a nurse. They will tell you who the good guys are. To be clear I am not suggesting this...

What’s bad is good?
Some great comments on the board so far. Thanks to those who read my post (hundreds) and to those who posted comments. I have a few thoughts to share. So to Kmall, a man with a VERY good memory. Yes that was an exact quote, more later. First a couple of thoughts pertinent to therapies in use today t...
