Re: 50% enrollment

Jay, watching paint dry. I think we have to remember how COVID dreadfully set back enrollment in many studies. Also there is competition for patients, that’s just a sad fact of enrollment challenges.

Re: Dr. Patnaik, editorial comment in Lancet

Jay you are not wrong. There are plenty of fruitcakes that hide in academic institutions. And also masquerade as knowing physicians in academics and in the community. The best way to find and avoid them is to ask a nurse. They will tell you who the good guys are. To be clear I am not suggesting this...

What’s bad is good?

Some great comments on the board so far. Thanks to those who read my post (hundreds) and to those who posted comments. I have a few thoughts to share. So to Kmall, a man with a VERY good memory. Yes that was an exact quote, more later. First a couple of thoughts pertinent to therapies in use today t...

Dr. Patnaik, editorial comment in Lancet

Like every major featured article in a top tier medical journal, a prominent physician is asked to comment. I did "buy" 24 hour access to the comments by Dr. Patnaik of the Mayo in Rochester. I am sure I had to agree not to reproduce it so I will just summarize a few points. Dr. Patnaik summarized t...

Re: things have a way of coming full circle

Ryan, I did not mean to cast doubt on your ability or anyone else’s to appreciate the current presentation of the Imetelstat data. I was merely sharing my own reaction to my first subscription to the NEJM as a first year, first day 22 year old medical student. No aspersions or judgements were meant ...

Re: things have a way of coming full circle

As far as I am concerned “tantamount to a cure” has been discredited as was a product of irrational exuberance. Bigger that all of us was an interesting choice of words over a decade ago and didn’t materialize. There is however a very underserved area of heme onc that will benefit from Imetelstat. L...

things have a way of coming full circle

The commentary that accompanies the Lancet article: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(23)02187-6/fulltext# takes us back to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minn. I hope Dr. Tefferi is able to find some satisfaction in seeing a close colleague of his bring further recogniti...

Re: twitter

Ryan, thank you for posting (I don’t read twitter (X) on GPs), it can’t be said that we are normal people. We have been studying this company and this drug for a long time. Pretty sure by now most regulars could breeze through the Lancet article just fine. If we were “normal” we would have walked or...

Re: Lancet, hat tip to Omar

When I was a medical student lo those many centuries ago, the Dean of the medical school told us on the first day of classes to all get a subscription to the New England Journal of Medicine. We dutifully did. It was terrible advice for first day, first year med students. The journal was completely u...

Re: Cancer vaccine

Ross929, The cancer vaccine program went to what is now LCTX. Near as I can tell that company is not doing well and the LAMP technology is outdated and probably not too effective if at all. Your reference is almost 20 years old and has no relevance to today’s Geron other than an old agreement that G...

Re: New Board Member

Yes Jay, it seems that we have a long and fluid catalogue of board members with experience in buy outs. Not too much time left in 2023 for JS to make good on two promises. 1. Acknowledge 50% enrollment in MF study and 2. Update on oral agent progress. Post ASH updates themselves will probably not in...
