FDA shoot first ask questions later…
Does the FDA ever ask for advice or are they just imperious:

Re: Putting 6-thio-Dg into perspective
Here’s a report funded by MAIA, clearly not free of bias therefore. I would encourage a revisit to the question as to who controls the patent on 6-thio-Dg. Anyway we shouldn’t lose sight of the ties between MAIA, Sergei and Jerry Shay. I know I have read patent filings remotely that seemed to includ...

Re: In press—Lancet
The NEJM also saw its Impact Factor rise impressively to 176, with The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) close behind on 157. But for the first time in the controversial era of the Impact Factor, The Lancet can now fairly claim to be the world's leading medical journal.Jul 1, 2022

Re: In press—Lancet
From Wikipedia:
The Lancet is a weekly peer-reviewed general medical journal and one of the oldest of its kind. It is also the world's highest-impact academic journal.
Purported higher impact than NEJM. Probably a little like US News and World Report college rankings.

Re: Hat tip to Kaz YMB
Yup again. Geron put out that PR because they could. But they did so knowing the time line would be long, we, the poilus, of course could not know the implications of that PR which appears in retrospect to be minimal.

Re: Hat tip to Kaz YMB
Yup. The heme/onc profession has made a big deal about looking for agents that lead to disease modification, not just symptom treatment. The implication of course is life extension, symptom control, and slower transformation to higher risk categories. Basically the FDA asked (told) Geron (us) to for...

It’s “just” a mere 4 months…
What in actuality does a four month delay mean? I think the cash burn is roughly 50M+ a quarter so a delay of 1/3 of the year translates to 71M of carrying costs. I did not go back an get Olivia’s last numbers and am doing this approximation from memory. 71M imagine that. How many patients and how m...

Ajax therapeutics
Spurred by RC’s latest thread I went back to see what Dr. Steensma was up to. It appears he is no longer with Novartis and left about three months ago to join Ajax therapeutics (they are also pursuing MDS). Initially I had thought that his joining Novartis as global head of heme/onc signaled an inte...

When the time comes for the ADCOM, KOLs will likely advocate for the drug as will patients and families. All we have have to do is wait. And wait.

Re: Baird Conference
Dr. S tried to play down the failure to achieve priority review. Pure spin in my view. While it may not affect final approval, we lose four important and expensive months IMHO.
