Re: Today's conference call

Ryan, I stand corrected, thank you. My recollection was 6 when Dr. O left but clearly not when Dr. S arrived, you are right. Yes the call was upbeat but I didn't see much new when one considered the prior info release regarding the new hires, planned expansion etc. I do think there is a sub rosa sea...

Today's conference call

Today's call sadly had no new information. Confirmation of MDS PIII with structure pretty much as outlined on clinical trials site. Just a bit of history, when JS took over the company seven or eight years ago the stock was selling for about 6. bp

Re: Far from a straight line but still on course

Ashah and Hunt (as always,--censorship? preposterous say what you will--within reason of course!), thank you for these contributions to the board. Ashah, I can assure you you are in good company and many here have losses that exceed your own. I do think Scarlett's hands are tied until he has full co...

Re: Geron Jobs and Personnel

Hunt, thanks for updating this information. It seems pretty clear that there is a plan in place and Geron is gearing up. I suspect by the time the next quarterly update occurs, and it should be soon, the control should be back in Geron's hands and we should get some significant details. I am sure Dr...

Of general interest to the board

https://patents.google.com/patent/US20190030064A1/en

First author on this patent application which embodies the MDS data from ASH is Dr. Rizo. Hope this helps lift some spirits. bp, your friendly board moderator.

Another one bites the dust

Todays financial news reported yet another failed study, this time in Alzheimer's disease sponsored by Genentech. Recent news has reported cessation of studies in lung cancer and pancreatic cancer for lack of efficacy as well. Its not for lack of trying but it is clear that big Pharma is trying to g...

Re: Brainstorm thread for activist role

Ryan, thank you for posting. You have been a reasoned champion for Imetelstat for as long as I can remember. Your comments as always are appreciated. In this case I think I would agree with much of what you have said but I think some things need to be tempered. For example, we ofter hear about "tant...

Re: Brainstorm thread for activist role

kara, by rough head count we can raise about 2 million votes, those posted publicly and privately. This is a long way from the 3 % required to get a name on the ballot much less garner votes from institutional holders. Not sure where to go with this. Any board members with experience can weigh in wi...

Re: Random musings on things I don’t understand

Almost half of patients (47%) stoped study drug because of 1. Lack of efficacy, 2. Physician decision 3. Patient decision. As I continue to think more about this I return to Buckminster Fuller. Almost half of the patients who withdrew or were withdrawn could not know they might be butterflies. Optim...

Re: Random musings on things I don’t understand

Kara, it appears that 7 patients remained on trial as of the April data eval at 24 weeks. The investigators and the company do not appear to have shared how many patients remained on drug if any at the time of the Oct MOS determination. Yet another glaring omission of pertinent data. bp

Random musings on things I don’t understand

Buckminster Fuller said something to the effect that there is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it is going to become a butterfly. At MOS of 29.9 months roughly half of the high dose group are alive. But only 7 patients remain on drug in this study (6 high dose, 1 low dose) so many patients ca...

Re: iMbark - Extension Phase Extended

Thank you J6!! I think they initially thought everyone would be dead by the time of the original extension conclusion date so I think this further extension is very good news (unless the original cut off was because they thought the drug would be approved by that point)--as usual, hard to know, but ...

Request for info re Onconova from Martin YMB

A YMB board poster, Martin, has requested some information/opinions re Onconova particularly as their work might relate to Geron's. Anyone with information to share would be welcomed. My preliminary view is that their drug is targeting high risk MDS patients with an end point of OS (a phase II study...

Re: Brainstorm thread for activist role

Hunt, along those lines, Reuter's has shown a particular interest in Johnson and Johnson's talc issues. I did try to email the reporter who seemed to be quite good at journalistic investigations and got an automated reply that her email was having some "technical issues" or something like that. More...

Re: Best New Year Wishes to all from bp (123)

Hi Ryan, yes my prognostications were meant to be overly optimistic to counter the prevailing gloom, yet they are not impossible. But that's what New Years prognostications are about--an optimistic future. Your point about the canary in the coal mine is well taken. It certainly seems that some last ...

Gwickly, I asked the two posters I respect the most to comment on your question. I just heard from the second poster. Both are posters I trust and value. Here is the second response: ""Patent protection affords the patent owner the legal right to restrict others from being able to make, use, or sell...

Response to Gwikley query

Gwikley, have heard back privately from a poster for whom I have a great deal of respect, here is his response: "Anyone can file a patent application claiming "my drug can be used in combination with another drug." However, getting that application approved requires the filer to prove the combinatio...
